The RATS DMR File Generator is a web-based utility that makes CSV and Excel data files for import directly into CPS applications. It gives RATS members with supported radios access to our entire channel library.
This tool will generate contacts (talkgroups) and channels for the selected zones. If the CPS supports zone import/export, we'll build a zone file, too. If not, we'll give step-by-step instructions for adding channels to zones, and we'll even make a printable Zone Creation Checklist to mark off channels and zones as you go.
Several dozen popular radio models are supported either directly or through secondary translation through N0GSG DMR Contact Manager.
RATS club members have full system access. Non-members sign in as "guest" with your working email address to receive access to DMRVA and HEARS zones in VA and NC.

This tool was created to serve two purposes:
► To encourage the use and continued growth of the DMRVA+HEARS statewide network in Virginia by providing free programming resources for all interested hams
► To provide a variety of "travel zones" for Virginia amateurs temporarily commuting or vacationing along the US East Coast who want to keep in contact with friends back home in VA
⚠️
After importing our files to your CPS, inspect all other settings in your codeplug. When you start from a blank codeplug, things like APRS/DPRS beacons, Automatic Registration Service (ARS), and Talker ID/Alias may require adjustment depending on your radio, software, and the DMR networks you are using.
Be familiar with the rules of the DMR networks you select. A few networks prohibit radio-to-radio calls, text messages, and data applications. Some also prohibit the transmission of Talker ID/Alias. Refer to each network's website for info and be familiar with their expectations before you transmit.
Where is Clear Timeslot?
Some networks do not have a Clear Timeslot function and instead rely on activity timeouts or PTT activation of subsequent talkgroups to disconnect network links. These files include Clear Timeslot where it exists. Refer to each network's website for operating procedures applicable to that system.
Our complete DMR channel database is loaded, offering access to the full DMRVA statewide network of 30+ repeaters as well as DMR networks along the east coast such as Interstate, NCPRN, NC4ES, SCHEART, and HEARS-NC. As of April 26, our database contains 4,237 channels in 405 zones and 15+ datasets.
These files offer the same channel arrangement and talkgroup lineup as the other codeplugs on this site, except for the recent addition of Roanoke Metro to the Hampton Roads Brandmeister zones which is not yet reflected in any of our pre-built codeplugs. See important information about our Brandmeister zones.
Non-DMRVA zones include talkgroups primarily of interest to Virginia amateurs wanting to make contact back home to the DMRVA network. Larger systems like Interstate offer many more talkgroups which are not included in our files. For maximum hardware compatibility, RATS codeplugs are limited to 16 channels per zone. A future update to this tool will furnish additional talkgroups on certain systems when supported by the radio and network.
Our Motorola CPS 2.0 support includes the popular automatic Monitor All function, which activates automatically when the radio is tuned to the Clear Timeslot channel.
Under consideration: RT Systems support
Under consideration: Optional "Extra Channels" feature for larger systems like Interstate and radios that support zones larger than 16 channels.
