DMRVA Codeplugs for Motorola Radios
About our Motorola Codeplugs
Before starting, review our General Information, Codeplug Version key, and Channel Naming Conventions.
Codeplug Types
Our codeplugs for Motorola radios are offered in two flavors:
Full Codeplugs: RATS is maintaining one official master codeplug that covers the entire DMRVA+HEARS repeater network. This codeplug is written for the popular Motorola XPR7550e. RATS is no longer supplying official codeplugs for models other than the XPR7550e. Our 7550e codeplug was created for the new Motorola CPS 2.0, and this CPS does a fine job translating data between radio models. For conversion instructions, see slide 2 of the Quick Start Guide above.
Member Contributed Codeplugs: Some RATS members have contributed their own codeplugs to this effort. These codeplugs may not follow the same zone and channel layouts, geographic area, or zone naming conventions of the official RATS codeplugs. Some may date back to older DMRVA talkgroup lineups and could contain outdated configurations. Use at your own risk.
Validation Errors in CPS 2.0
Users may notice one or more Validation Errors in CPS 2.0 when loading our XPR7550e file or translating it to a different model. There are two common causes.
Ensure you are following our conversion process precisely (above, slide 2). Performing any of those steps out of sequence can result in errors.
Also, confirm that your CPS has the proper entitlements for the codeplug you're trying to use. Our XPR7550e codeplug requires a valid wideband entitlement loaded into CPS 2.0. If you do not have a wideband entitlement, you can purchase one through your Motorola Solutions account, or you can manually convert the impacted channels to narrowband FM. As of 3/2/2025, the amateur radio pricing for a wideband entitlement direct from the Motorola Solutions online store is US$5.00, and it covers all Motorola DMR radios programmed with that CPS installation. Look for item# HKVN4046A, MOTOTRBO 20/25 KHZ Channel - Radio License Key (NA).
Hampton Roads Brandmeister Systems Now Included
As of March 1, 2025 our XPR7550e master codeplug includes the four UHF Brandmeister systems in the Hampton Roads region of southeast Virginia. These are the same systems included in the CS750 flavor of our Hampton Roads Brandmeister add-on.
